April 2012 Climbing Trip

So I told my buddy Phu Pham that I was going on a two week climbing trip and he suggested that I should blog about it. Well I decided to resurrect this blog of mind that I haven't logged into in years to blog about my up coming two week adventure. So here is the start of my blogging.

This two week trip I am about to take has been planned for months now with my buddy Javier Licon. So a quick brief history of Javier and how I met him...

I met Javier back in January 2011 in an internet climbing forum, Mountainproject.com . He posted that he needed a climbing buddy while visiting his family here in Southern California so I decided to take him around. That's when our climbing/friendship started. Fast forward to Fall of 2011...We got even closer when I visited him in his new home town of Raleigh, North Carolina. After only actually hanging out with Javier at 3 different occasions, he invited me to his place. I decided to fly to Raleigh, NC fall of 2011 and also do a 2 week climbing trip there. We climbed at various spots in North Carolina but our focused was climbing at New River Gorge in West Virginia. We also ended up doing 5th class rapids down the Upper Gauley River in West Virginia.

So back to the present. After my last visit with Javier in fall of 2011, we decided to take another trip together, but this time in my "home area" of Southern California. We decided to focus in three different areas to go climbing, Owens River Gorge for sport climbing, the Buttermilks in Bishop, Ca. for bouldering and then Red Rocks for traditional climbing in Las Vegas, Nevada. We are planning on leaving Monday April 16. Our tentative schedule consist of Owens River Gorge from April 17-20, Bishop April 21-22, then Red Rocks 23-27/28. We are most likely going to be camping throughout most of our trip, with an occasional motel here and there, and maybe stay with his cousins in Last Vegas. I'm really looking forward to this trip and hopefully I find time to take tons of photos and find WiFi to be able to update this blog occasionally during our trip. So stay tuned for more blogging. (If I don't I apologize ahead of time). Shout out to Phu Pham again for suggesting to do this blog.
